Ingredients:
1 cup baking soda
½ cup cornstarch
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
½ cup + 1 tablespoon water
Directions:
1. Combine all
ingredients into a bowl.
*NOTE: It will seem like you do not have
enough liquid in your mixture but keep stirring. You will eventually end up
with a very soupy liquid.
2. TEACHERS ONLY will pour in
warm/hot water away from the children and will stir continuously. The mixture
will remain soupy for about 5 minutes and then begin to thicken as it cools.
3. Once the mixture has
cooled and starting to thicken, allow the children an opportunity to stir to
feel how thick and hard it becomes to stir. Continue stirring until the mixture
becomes quite thick.
4. Dump the mixture onto
a sheet of waxed paper to finish cooling.
5. After a few minutes,
break the mixture into chunks.
6. Once the Snow Dough
has cooled completely, knead the dough until it becomes cool.
7. Allow the children to
mold, sculpt, and explore the snow dough!
8. Set out liquid
watercolors as an extension to change your snow different colors!
9. Store your Snow Dough
in an airtight container for 2 weeks and then dispose of it properly.
