Read stories about letters and letter sounds together. As you read, point out the words and talk about how each of the different letters makes up each word.

Explore and let children manipulate different letters (magnets, other manipulatives) as you talk about the letters and their sounds.

Point out print through out your environment (inside and out) so children can begin to understand that letters make words and those words have meaning.
