Ingredients:
3 % household Hydrogen Peroxide
· *NOTE: It is
important that this is the ONLY hydrogen peroxide used as it makes it
kid-friendly and safe to touch and work with during the experiment*
1-2 packets of dry yeast
Liquid dishwashing detergent
Water
Food coloring
Empty plastic 2L soda bottle
Cookie sheet or pan to catch the foam
Directions:
1. Pour about a cup of
hydrogen peroxide into an empty bottle. If needed, use a funnel to get the ingredients
into the bottle.
2. Add a couple of
squirts of dishwashing liquid and a few drops of food coloring of your choice
to the bottle. Swish the liquid around to mix it all together.
3. In a separate container,
mix together yeast and enough warm water that the liquid is easy to pour. Wait 2
minutes before proceeding with the yeast so that it has a chance to activate.
4. When you are ready,
place your plastic bottle on a cookie sheet or a pan and pour the yeast mixture
into the bottle.
5. Watch and observe
what happens!
6. Clean up the mixture
using warm soapy water and discard.
